Overview
In a year marked by global capital constraints and persistent inequality, the Moremi Accelerator emerged as a beacon for inclusive investing. With the conviction that the future of investing in Africa must be led by those historically left out of it, we doubled down on our mission: to reimagine who gets to manage capital, and where that capital flows.
Launched by the Kuramo Foundation for Sustainable Development (KFSD), the Moremi Accelerator is Africa’s first-of-its-kind platform focused on equipping first-time, female-led and gender-smart investment funds. In just two years, the program has supported 40 fund managers across 12 countries, unlocking $355.7 million in commitments and enabling the deployment of $6.8 million across 32 women-led SMEs. From food systems to fintech, climate resilience to healthcare, these funds are transforming not just portfolios — but possibilities.
But this report is about more than numbers. It’s about the journeys of women building funds against the odds, about institutional change seeded through catalytic capital, and about the power of a community that chooses to invest in inclusion at every level.
If 2024 taught us anything, it’s this: equity does not scale by accident. It requires intention, structure, and belief. The Moremi Platform, anchored in our A-B-C-D Framework (Accelerate, Bridge, Catalyze, Develop), was designed to unlock that scale. Through technical assistance, blended finance tools, and curated investor networks, we are proving that diverse fund managers are not a risk, they are a return multiplier.
With every fund that reaches first close, every SME that secures capital, and every young woman who sees herself reflected at the top, we take one step closer to an investment ecosystem designed by Africans, for Africans — with women also leading the way.
